RETREAT!

Why are you looking at a google map street view of a church?  Well, at about 7pm tonight, a bunch of us are headed to Canajoharie, New York to spend the weekend in that very church pictured to the left.

Here’s why:  My neighbor plays organ and shopped around for a church with an organ suitable for his needs. He found that at the Cliff Street Church in Canajohairie, NY (About 3-4 hours North), so he bought it. I recently talked to him about having a bunch of bands up there to stay for a couple of days as we document everything via audio and film.  The goal is to leave with enough material to compile some sort of video comp/documentary with live performances, interviews, and anything else we may capture.  Eric (the owner) liked the idea and agreed to open his church to us for the weekend of July 1-July 3 so we can film our little documentary.   It should be noted that this is not a party and not a show.  The whole thing will be very focused and everyone up there will have some sort of role.  Wish us luck!  Click READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY for a list of confirmed bands, labels, and zines.

Ogo gives the Mister Snake tape an honest review…

From Ogo Reviews it All:  “Mister Snake is a band from Toms River, NJ. They play a style of music that not too many bands in the local area are playing and it is awesome to say the least. They recently released a tape and it seriously impressed me with it’s creativity. The band draws alot of influence from grunge and  Black Sabbath. Basically if Ozzy Osbourne was best friends with Kurt Cobain and Buzz from the Melvins they’d start a band like Mister Snake. Right off the bat this tape takes no time to give you a kick in your ass with the song Gut Bucket. This song is heavily sabbath influenced especially with the tempo changes, definitely my favorite song on the tape. The second song Teeth does a 180 and reminds me of Primus and the early Meat Puppets alot which is awesome. The song Angles is also really cool and is definitely very grunge influenced, hearing the song automatically teleports you back to 1990. The final song God/My Life is my second favorite song on the tape because it draws influence from Pavement which I think is really cool. Also, if your familiar with Josh Jurks previous band The Jurks this song will definitely be a treat for you. To wrap this up I strongly suggest you check this tape out for yourself. I think 100 were made which makes this thing kind of limited however I think they might have some left. I also suggest seeing these guys live. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out you wont be disappointed!”

You can still pick up a copy of the tape for $5.  There are only 100, best way to get it is at a Mister Snake show.   We’re trying to get them to North Jersey asap.   Also, if you like or hate any other Bedside release enough and would like to review it, please contact us.  You’ll get a free digital copy of whatever you decide to review if you do.

Mister Snake Artwork and Full Stream

Mister Snake made their upcoming tape available for stream on their bandcamp page.  They have it arranged so you can listen to each side of the tape separately, rather than splitting it up into tracks.  Prettaaay, prettaaaay, prettaaaaay cool.   I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…we’re really stoked to be part of this.    Check it out HERE or listen below!  100 copies of the tape will be available shortly.  Keep checkin’ back!

Mister Snake Compared to Sabbath and

Bleach-era Nirvana in a review of their upcoming self-titled release!  From Hazer Says: “Besides having a great name, Mister Snake brings heavy rock mixed with  bits of psych. This Jersey Shore band is composed of duel basses and drums that give it a very bottom heavy, neurotic sound…”  Check out the full review HERE.  Keep checking back for more on Mister Snake and their upcoming tape release!

New Bedside Manner (Temporary) Home

If you’re checking this, chances are you know that our site has been down for quite some time now.  We’re working on salvaging all of the material so we don’t have to start from complete scratch.  This will be our new temporary home where you can expect a lot of updates on bands and other stuff we love/hate.  Stay tuned, we’ll try to keep it fresh for y’all.  We currently have the Mister Snake tape project in the works.

Also, we’ll be posting stuff here about our friends that may not necesarily be directly affiliated with Bedside Manner.   With that said North Jersey’s Control announced that the tracking for their yet-to-be titled full length is complete and the mixing starts this week.  The album will feature 11 songs and it is set to be released early next year with no label backing.

Earth Stood Still and Captives teamed up to start the post-hardcore quartet about two years ago.  With two self released EP’s,  the band draws comparison to Rival Schools, Quicksand, Brand New and maybe even a little Snapcase.  The track listing, title and artwork should be available soon.  Check Control’s facebook  or myspace page (www.myspace.com/controlisaband) for the most current updates. In the meantime, check out this studio footage from early on in the sessions.  Do it quick though; it will be down soon!:
