INSOUCIANT SURE IS ACTIVE FOR A DEFUNCT BAND

Hardly 3 days passed since Insouciant released their latest EP, “Variable Resistor”- a five song post-hardcore/grunge influenced collection of new and old songs.  They sound angrier and dirtier than usual on this and seem to have returned to the garage or basement where they formed.  “Variable Resistor” could very well sneak into the Dischord Records catalog from any era…Anyway, it’s only been 3 days, just 3 days, and they hit us with a music video on top of that!  We can only hope that this means they will get together and let us experience them again live, but I’m not counting on it. Insouciant always plays by their own rules and I know they will only get back together to play if they all truly wanted to…no cashin’ in here.  Listen to the EP and watch the video below.  Check out NOTROCK RECORDS for more updates on their active roster and to stay up on what members of Insouciant are up to now.

OFF CAMBER

I’m going to try to keep this as abrasive and short as possible, much like the band:  LISTEN TO THIS FUCKING EP!  Could we be returning to the heavy?  Under five minutes/Out on hand drilled tape.  Don’t know what that means?  Pick it up at one of their shows and find out!

RETREAT!

Why are you looking at a google map street view of a church?  Well, at about 7pm tonight, a bunch of us are headed to Canajoharie, New York to spend the weekend in that very church pictured to the left.

Here’s why:  My neighbor plays organ and shopped around for a church with an organ suitable for his needs. He found that at the Cliff Street Church in Canajohairie, NY (About 3-4 hours North), so he bought it. I recently talked to him about having a bunch of bands up there to stay for a couple of days as we document everything via audio and film.  The goal is to leave with enough material to compile some sort of video comp/documentary with live performances, interviews, and anything else we may capture.  Eric (the owner) liked the idea and agreed to open his church to us for the weekend of July 1-July 3 so we can film our little documentary.   It should be noted that this is not a party and not a show.  The whole thing will be very focused and everyone up there will have some sort of role.  Wish us luck!  Click READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY for a list of confirmed bands, labels, and zines.

NotRock Sampler Vol. III Details Revealed

NotRock Records recently announced some crucial details about their next comp on their SITE.  Note: we have nothing to do with this and are not trying to take credit.  NotRock Records arranged the whole thing and put a lot of effort into it’s production.  We’re just really stoked on it and wanted to post about it here to show our appreciation.  Also, some Bedside Manner affiliated bands will appear on it (Gypsy Wig, Melissa & Paul, Young American Artists).  We’re really happy to be part of this! What they are doing is inspirational and with the best of intentions.  Here’s a snippet of what they have to say about it:

“The purpose of this compilation is to share and expose people to a lot of the great music that our friends are out there making right now. It’s free because not only do we want to share it with you but we would like YOU to share it with others as well. These artists are making fantastic music and the world deserves to hear it. Please help us share it with them. Speaking of the fine artists featured on this compilation, it’s time they were revealed to you.”  How awesome is that!  Read the full story HERE.  Or readmore for some highlights and details.
